Bought an estate and got this included. I know nothing about a lot of things and this is high on the list.

Marked Franz Hardt, Kurtscheid (ESE of Remagen). I need some help interpreting the markings as to caliber, I believe it was made July, 1930 (?), but that is all I can figure out. 7.6X46mm. I do not have the sight adjusting keys. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Larry

Your rifle is chambered for 8.15X46R, the 7.6 is the bore diameter, not groove or bullet diameter.This bore diameter is a little tight,but is often seen. You are very lucky to have the sights, they are often missing( they were usually dismounted and kept in a different box. A clock repair shop is likely to be able to help you find a key for the sights.

The proof date and ledger number is a bit fuzzy. There is load data also. What is the monogram below the serial number on the left side of the falling block?

Load marking is Bl.G./11gr, ledger marking is 7.30/30 5.



Logo is W (large)/W (small)/ V all configured to resemble a large "V" when seen as a whole

It is as I thought - Venus Waffenwerke - Oskar Will. Wilhelm Foss may have been the owner when this example was completed.

Thanks to Raimey and Mike for their help. As I peruse the internet I don't find much about the company that is not airgun related. Were they a popular maker?

The ledger number is 305.7,30 is the proof date(July 1930).The 11gr. Bl is a 170grain(about)lead bullet.
