Hi all:
I have had a grade 4 Ithaca Flues for a couple of years now as a "project in work" and I have a question to all about it. The gun itself is in about 50% condition with the exception of the damascus barrels. They are beyond repair from rusting and quite a few dents. I knew this when I bought it. Being that, the gun is not very valuable as a collectors piece. It is also too nice to be a wall hanger. I would like to shoot it. So ...my question is can I convert it to steel barrels in order to shoot it? Of course I would have the steel barrels fitted properly by a professional.

Couldn't another set of Flues barrels be fitted? What gauge?

getting it sleeved would be too expensive I think. I did get another set of damascus barrels from Ebay but they too have there defects, so I'm thinking just a good set of steel barrels, properly fitted would do the job. Can this be done? Oh, it's a 12 ga.

yes....it should be relatively easy too. I would be glad to fit them for you if you like.

I would look for a project Flues feild grade gun. One with a broken stock would be perfect. Take the barrels from the new one and fit them to the one you have. Sometimes it is easier to find a set this way than wait until you find a perfect set of barrels just laying around. You should be able to find a good gun for a few hundred dollars which will be much cheaper in the long run than buying a series of barrels hoping to find a decent set. AuctionArms has been a good place for me to find guns like hte ones I describe.

Item #67071923 looks to be a Lewis model. Check that rib extension. Don't buy that one
