Some time ago I saw a pic of a curious device for quick loading of double guns. Used at Brit style driven shoot, if my memory doesn't fail. It looked like a portmanteau type bag, to be carried on one's belly, it folded in for carry and folded out at ready-to-load position. Inside, there were nests for shells, located by two, so that it looked easy to grab two shells at a time and drop them into the barrels. Hope you can visualize it from my description. Does anyone recognize this thing?

Yes. I will have to think of the name but they usually run about $300-$400.

I may be wrong, but I think they were designed for your loader using a pair of guns.

Our Vintager group has had great luck with the Loadmaster. They work great and come with a wide variety of classic decorative straps.

Not sure though that they are still available.

Dr. P, those are cute, too! smile

Loader, or no loader, both loader's bad and loadmaster could come useful for some of duck hunting we do here. The price is about the only thing that's wrong with them, so I'll have to figure out if I can make my own. smile

Here you go HD smile Rig up one of these things for each barrel!

"Alofs Reloading Magazine"

Invented in 1923 by Herman Alofs of Holland, Michigan. Patent was granted Sept. 9, 1924 and Canadian patent May 18, 1926. It was marketed by the Herman Gun Co., Grand Rapids. From the August 1926 National Sportsman.
Would be very interested to see what sort of balance Rocketman would deduce with his spin machine thingie!

The device you are referring to is a Cartridge Ganoche. They are available in 50, 100 and even 200 cartridge models. It was designed for the loader- I doubt the shooter could support a 200 cartridge and still pick up the gun.

Fine Shooting Accessories still lists them but he has discontinues the loadmaster. They also pop up on Ebay.

The loadmaster is the device of choice on driven hunts. It presents two cartridges in the proper orientation. As Dr. P notes- it helps on tower and driven birds.
