Who went to this? How was it compared to the U.P. Shoot?

As this was the first time in the new venue, and my first time to go, I was very impressed. RST, Mark's Born Again Birdguns, Vintage Doubles, Stephen Cobb, and everyone seemed to have a great time. The Flurry was a riot. I'm going to make it every time I can. MKII

I thought RST cancelled due to a lack of inventory.

The Great Northern Side-by-Side Classic was a complete success. Lots of side events including the flurry, two pigeon rings, sporting clays, 4-station mini clays, 5-stand, long bird, double rifle and the crazy quail allowed attendees to shoot till their arms cramped up. I myself shot more than twice the amount of ammo than what I've shot at any recent Yooper shoot. I believe the vendors were well satisfied with the event, too. The RST trailer wasn't able to make it, but Morris did.

The MRC Sportsman's Club were very gracious hosts. Their enthusiasm, willingness and very capable workers that worked the event made it great and will only make it better going forward. The caterers for the Saturday night banquet did a great job, too. The thick cut prime rib I had was unbelievable, not to mention the open bar prior to dinner.

Make plans on attending this shoot next year, you won't be disappointed.

Alex and Jill could not make it but they sent shells.

Weather was great Friday and Sunday. Saturday it rained until the the shooting started and started again when the shoot stopped.

Hat's off to the MRC Sportsman's Club for running a very fun and successful shoot!

I agree about everything except for the part about the rain on Saturday. I shot on a 9:15 squad & it was definitely still raining through the first 4 or 5 stations.

A fun time & good food @ the dinner on Saturday evening.

It was good to see lots of familiar faces from the UP shoot.

The guys at Medford mostly stuck with the "Yooper Shoot" model, with minor changes. Same # of targets on the flurry, but 3 minutes rather than 2 1/2. 36 pigeon ring targets vs 30, with shooters rotating stations (like trap) after 3 birds. Sporting Clays was 2 rounds of 50, one each Sat and Sun with some adjustment to the traps in between. No serious glitches that I saw, and the club had plenty of volunteers to handle small issues that are bound to arise. Great job, Medford!

Comparing Medford to the Sagola Township club, Medford has a lot more space. That allowed them to run all program events simultaneously, as well as a great variety of side events. You could burn a bunch of powder!

I took my camera but between shooting and visiting with customers I never took it out of the case!

Hats off to the boys at MRC! Their wheels are already turning with ideas to make things even better for next year.

I have a feeling this shoot will fill up fast next year.

One of the high points of the weekend for me was Monday. MRC opened up the club for vendors to shoot. Terry Patrick and Steven Cobb Shot sporting clays and pigeon ring both shooting all targets from the hip!
