Hi, has anyone heard of a gunmaker by the llast name of Forester that was located in Berlin? I have been looking at a very nice single shot stocking rifle maed or sold by this person.

A forced translation but I've read it one more than on occasion and from different sources:

"In 1888, Kaiser Wilhelm II was a gift from the Empress Augusta Victoria a couple of double-barrel shotguns open trigger Berlin weapons company Foerster, characterized by an extremely solid performance and superior performance in locks. Some years ago a friend bought a Suhl made Mauser rifle retailed by Wilhelm Foerster, Taubenstr.47, Berlin. Foerster was active from 1884 to about 1920. By 1925 the shop was run by a Paul Schmidt. It came to him with a short stock fitted with an ugly white line, ventilated recoil pad and a 1960s Hensoldt "Diatal" 4x scope claw mounted on the original bases. As the stock was too short for his tastes I installed the extension and the solid red pad now on the rifle and restored the stock finish. The rifle was built about 1912 on a Mauser Oberndorf commercial action.
