Where there any records kept on Webley and Scott shotguns? If so, Where are they, who owns them, and can they be accessed for research on a particular shotgun? Thanks.

Susan Boothroyd does an excellent job of research(for a fee). I have lost her e-mail address for now but will look for it when I get back to Dallas from L.A. Regards, Gordon

They don't have the records, in fact this is a case for Nigel Brown or Donald Dallas. I think that Elderkins hold some records on behalf of a private collector who owns the records. I do have artifacts from Webley and Webley & Scott but I do tend to horde rather than archive. It is a very sad state of affairs that the above two names contributed so much to the guntrade, yet so much history is lost. Would one of you oil barons out there payroll me to sue the Birmingham City Council for raping the guntrade? So much history bulldozed to the ground, stolen by corrupt employees. Now look what you have done, you've got me going. Maybe someone out there can be more definitive as to who has what, but I will rummage through my notes and maybe get back to you.

It is not Elderkins. It is Richard Gallyon. But I do have quite a lot of data myself.Perhaps PM me with your serial number? maybe I can help.

Yes, my understanding is that Gallyon's owns what records there are. The photos posted of Dustin's gun shows a serial number on the barrels that appears to be in the 97000 range. According to the table published by Nigel Brown, that would date it from 1923.
"Serious rifles have two barrels, everything else just burns gunpowder."
