Hi guys,
Somehow, I saw that CSMC/Galazan was marketing "Francotte" guns.
As I know somebody reasonably close to the real A. Francotte firm (or whatever is left of it), I asked him about it.
It looks like CSMC is doing it on their own without the brand's owner approval.
The rumor is the guns are made in Pakistan, but proved in London.
Are we gonna have a Rigby v Rigby fight redux???

Oh boy!

You said "Somehow, I saw that CSMC/Galazan was marketing "Francotte" guns."

Where did you see this?

I, for one hope there was no unscrupulous business practice here, but if there was, I hope someone gets what's coming to them and gets their A$$' sued off!

"Auguste Francotte et Cie" was registered by the US patent office to CSMC on 5/18/2010.
Hence, they have the right to use the name in the USA.

The point is that this has nothing to do with the Francotte brand owner in Europe.
I wonder if CSMC is making the AF crown stamps as well.

The idea of another classic name resurrected is interesting.
I have mixed emotions and opinions on the various new life different brand labels have gotten.

They range from complete scorn to the newly made guns carrying the LC Smith name to mixed opinions on the Ithacas and Parker reproductions to some respect on the CSMC Winchester 21s and Foxes.

As I last noted the quality of CSMCs reproductions has been good, if they resurrect the Francotte name I have little doubt they will produce good work. I question whether there really is a market niche for it.

I dont see the Jules Bury guns being marketed by G&H (which are lovely graceful guns) selling out quickly. I am not sure there will be a huge demand for the Francotte guns no matter how well done.

Is there really a niche for the Francotte to come back into the new built market again?
