I just purchased an old W. W. Greener SxS Grade FH 50 12 guage with a second barrel. Unlike Westly Richards, I have found little info out there on the Greener gun. I would love to order a history report like Westley Richards offers but not sure if it exists. Can anyone advise as to the year or other info on this gun. I'll post some pictures soon.

Sorry for the misprint, I meant Greener, not Richards. Too many Belgium Ales while posting, I'm sure it's not the first time...

Are you sure this isn't a Greener? W.W. Greener, and FH50 is a Greener grading system. There's a W. Richards, two actually, but they didn't grade their shotguns like that.

My thinking too, perhaps a Greener gun with new or sleeved Westley Richards barrels (you know how Westley used to sign the breach sides)

I love Westley Richard firearms but, I can't say much for their sleeving back in the 3rd quarter of the last century.

Hi Digitalarm'
You mention a second bbl (singular)...is this a single bbl gun with spare a second bbl?
Think we need pictures!
FH50 does sound Greener
Digitalarm doesn't mention it being sleeved , does he ?
Yes, Westley's I've seen were pretty crude & ugly looking, with Sleeved by
Westley Richards on the outside of tubes.
If I 'd had done that work , I'd have left my name off smile
But perhaps they were pioneering the technique , or looking for folk to get new bbls made instead of such ugly sleeving?
Stic up some pics Digi,so we can see what we're lookin' at
cheers
Franc

Right! Looks like a nice gun. The FH 50 was considered an upper end mid-grade body action. You can order a history report directly from Graham Greener. Check their website for details. If you post the serial number, I can tell you when it was made.

Correct, it is a Greener. Too many Ales when posting. I also own a Westley Richards Drop Lock SxS from 1930s
