In answer to the emails that revdocdrew's Gunstock Picture Trail has generated,my Workbench/Office-Desk/Computer Area/Lunch Counter/ Dog& cat Grooming area, will not permit more that 2 more Adults in the"Bleachers", but as the 2 Gent's from VA.who spent 3hrs watching how I 'Re-Assembled' the Best Quality Italian O/U using my BIG-RIG' to put it all back to Orig. 'Drop'/Cast Dims.(The Owner of the'S06, less than 100 rds fired through the gun from 'New')Can now have the Pacemaker removed from his chest! His Huge Investment" and I mean 'HUGE',will be 100% stronger in the "Head & Hand" than It was after the Italian stockmaker(who had very poor judgement in his choice of stock-blank!See Fotos' later on revdocdrew's thread.....built the stock with 'Usual Pretty Wood! As any Stockmaker knows "Grain-Flow'(When looking downonto the 'Hand of the stock'should "North & South" straight from the Butt-End to the breech of tha Action. S.Dodd-Hughes,Esq. has covered this point in his many articals and in his'Most Excellent Book', The grain flow on this particular stock went from"10 o clock to 4 o clock, hence the stress-breaks to the stock. trevallion.

Thanks for the kind words Mr. T! There will be more on the subject of proper grain flow and structure in my new book "Double Guns and Custom Gunsmithing" due out later this year.
The number of cross-grain stocks I see on BRAND-NEW AND VERY EXPENSIVE Italian shotguns never ceases to amaze me. The volume of cross-grain Turkish stock blanks being imported - typically the more expensive the worse the grain flow - baffles me. A walk around either the SCI or SHOT Show could be a great lesson in poor wood choices. It doesn't require a Land Rover to break a cross-grained stock. A gunmaker's name ending with a vowel doesn't mean they know a good stock blank.
David, your abilities, and more surprisingly, your willingness to take on these repair projects making them whole once again, deserves the legendary status afforded you. My hat's off to you!
