Use these quite a bit in my search for info on mostly pre-WW2 shotguns and rifles. My usual go-to four consist of Buxton's Guide to Foreign Firearms, the 1939 Edition of the Shooters Bible, The 15 Year Treasury Edition of the Gun Digest (the Baron's proof-mark info) and the Stoegers First Treasury Edition. Would apreciate learning of any others which are felt of particular usefulness.
All help appreciated.

You might want to add the 25th Gun Digest Treasury as that contains the articles on Gun Proof by Lee Kennett. They contain the proof information on Czechoslavakia,Austria-Hungary France and Spain. You can probably find the Treasury on e-Bay or ABEbooks.com.I would recommend e-Bay as Abebooks.com have changed some time ago to a system that requires you to go through a clearing house to place an order, denying you contact with the actual seller.I think that the system was changed to control the flow of money and stop any "stiffing " by the book sellers. I generally want to talk to the book shop when buying a used book so as to learn all paticulars about the book. I don't use ABEbooks much anymore. Best Regards Gene

Thanks Murph and Gene. The only other one that comes to mind is the 1949 Stoegers, which shows the swing into post-war production. If you're a fishing gear buff, the '49 Stoegers is also one of the few yearly editions that Stoeger illustrated the fishing gear of the era.
Gene - Some of my Gun Digest Treasuries are still boxed somewhere from my move last year. Does Lee Kennett's article cite the original yearly GD edition it was published in?

outdoorlyr: What I told you was correct but incomplete. If you have Gun Digests from 22nd Edition through the 33rd edition, you will have everything (I think and hope) that Lee Kennett wrote on proof marks. Where I went wrong was that I looked at the 25 year Treasury and neglected to check the actual issues of the Gun Digests and I don't have the 30th year Gun Digest Treasury.Or the Thirty-fifth. Not to bore you too much the years cover: 22nd Edition Czecheslovakia 23rd Edition Austrai Hungary & Austria 24th Edition France 25th Edition Spain 26th Edition Italy 27th Edition Hungary 28th Edition Russia 29th Edition Germany 30th Edition Military 31st Edition England 32nd Edition Belgium 33rd Edition India. Sorry to go on and on but this is the best way I know to give you an answer that will enable you to select the right edition if you have a particular need for one country.I might add that the issue on military proof covers only Britain ,the US,France Russia and Switzerland,so it may not interest you. Apologies for not getting back to you more promptly. Best Regards Gene
