If you want a fun hunt, try a Salmon or Snake River cast and blast. Steelhead and chukars! Of course, you'd better be in shape for the chukars.
You can flyfish for either steelhead or cuts on the Salmon, with the Salmon being a float only trip.
Not in a state you've listed, but doesn't get much better than this for awesome, rugged scenary, and the opportunity to get in some good wing shooting and fishing.

I recommend Dennis Kavanaugh of Montana Bird Hunts. He has a very first class operation, googd dogs, food, etc., and is also a flyfishing guide. He is in Bozeman or Livingston. Google - he has a website.

thanks for the referal. I will contact him and see what he is about. I was really hoping to find quail / trout combo for the wife and myself.... but if I could find a spectacular one or the other... I would probably go for that. Cameron, do you have any more info on a snake river cast and blast?

Doub1egun, There are numerous outfitters that run jet boats on the Snake for cast and blast trips. There are some located in Lewiston, ID, Clarkston WA., Joseph OR. Asotin, WA. etc. If you goggle up "Snake River Cast and Blast" you should be able to find something that may suit you needs.
The length and cost of the trips vary from day trips up to a 5 day trip.
Steelhead fishing is dictated by the season. It usually opens in mid-Oct. for catch and keep about a month after the chukar season opens which is in mid-Sept. If steelhead isn't of importance, there is good trout, smallmouth, and sturgeon fishing. Sturgeon is catch and release only, but the possibility exists to catch a real monster!
Hope this helps some!
