I just purchased a Dominion. I do not know anything about them specifically other than they are a back action lock, which is what I like about them. This one has 26 1/2in barrels with what was described as light pitting in them. I have an inspection period so I will measure wall thickness to make sure they are safe. Below are some photos of the gun. Any information on the Dominion line as well as your views of the gun, good or bad are welcome. As I said, I do have an inspection period.

I like them. Handled a 12b Paradox Dominion the other day and it had superb balance. Nice and light. I think W.C. Scott made many of the actions for these nice guns. I recently toyed with the idea of buying one of these in 20 gauge, but couldn't bring myself to spend that much money.

I have owned 3 of the previous model, the Climax. One was marked Holland and Holland the other two Cogswell and Harrison, very similar, but mine were non-ejectors. Very nice lines, round action. One was in 28ga, a slim wand, wish I still had that one!
Mine were made by Scott, it seems.
This Dominion is a nice gun too.

Made to take the knocks and dirt and still work perfectly I believe.
There's good information on the locks and action here...

I'm not certain but I think you can still buy one new.
A good production run indeed.

The 26-1/2" barrels are very odd I think. I would expect them to be an even 26" or 27". Perhaps rebarreled or cut. Anyway when you the gun in please post a picture of the barrel flats and the rib where Holland and Holland should appear. Also a picture of the muzzle might help.

I like the Dominions too.

Best,

Mike

Actually it is correct. I asked H&H and they confirmed the gun was ordered with 26 1/2in barrels.

Sure looks like a Scott made dominion. Never seen one engraved like that. Odd to have plain wood and floral engraving.

The Dominion Hollands [previously known as the #2] are on a very strong action especially if fitted with a 3rd. fastener. Many double rifles were made on the action. I replaced the hinge pin on my 500-450 nitro [ca. 1910] when I bought it, and have since put at least 300 rounds through it. It is only now getting "broken-in".

Best,

Mal
