Called the folks at Ruger today to ask about a set of barrels for a older Red Label 20 ga. One made back before they went to stainless. The guy I spoke to said that Ruger does not make them anymore and that he was sure that they had to be individually fitted and that there was not a source of aftermarkets for it.

So is there a source for replacements?

They don't make a Ruger 20 gauge Red Label anymore? Or they just don't make extra barrels to keep in stock? My 2006 catalog says that they still make them. So why wouldn't they put a set of barrels on yours? Doesn't make sense. Keep an eye on ebay or the other gun sites. They should show up eventually.

It wasn't that they don't make replacement barrels anymore but that they must of changed some aspect of the design over the years and they do not offer replacements for the older Red Label actions. Mine is not stainless and is fairly old, but in great shape except for the barrels.

It's not worth the cost of putting a second set of barrels on a Ruger. The cost is at least 50% of the new gun price and there are plenty of used guns like yours out there in the barrel configuration you want and at a reasonable cost.

SIMMONS GUN SPECIALTIES 20241 W. 207th Spring Hill, KS 66083 Tel - 800-444-0220 Fax - 800-766-6586.

They might not be in business anymore. Couldn't find a direct link on Google.com
They used to make and install ribs and made barrels for existing shotguns.

Thank you. Will try the Simmons phone # tomorrow.

As for the new barrels, as best I can tell a used Red Label is almost always a $1000 shotgun so if I can get the second set of barrels for a few hundred less, all the better.

I probably have the same gun: 20 gauge, blued frame, 26" barrels (SK/SK), fabulous wood. Tried to get extra barrels a few years ago, and they just do not exist. Ruger told me that barrels from current production guns cannot be made to fit the early frames, so don't even try. When I finally buy a Red Label Sporting in 20 ga w/ 30" barrels, I'll try to swap the wood off my old gun (did I mention that the wood is fabulous?). These are very attractive guns with the blued frame.
