Only sorry that Owl Eye isn't here to enjoy this one and comment for our pleasure. It looks to be just the ticket for wild flushing grass hoppers behind a brace of thrashers. Prolly made for 'Blue Boy' ... or more likely his first cuz, the crown prince;-)
Just having some fun, guys, that's all. I like the praying chipmunk on the frame's right side, but imagine the snakes bracketing the hare on the bottom got more abuse. It does not appear the gun got a lot of use. That's a real shame, in some ways. For whomever it was made, Santa was real enough.

Raimey,
I saw it down at the Southern but didn't have it apart to check the marks. I noted the serial number for my files. It was in the 1700 range if I recall correctly which puts it circa 1909. Other than the diminutive size and unique gold inlays, the mechanicals looked great and "typical" of a regent diamond quality gun with the exception of the expected "steel eyes" indicating ejectors. It was a neat little gun, perfect for hunting dragon flies and grasshoppers I guess, but useless for anything else. The gun came with a SD&G custom alligator-skinned case.
I told my wife this close to buying it (thumb and index finger 1/8" apart). I only needed to move the decimal place about that far in the $95,000 price tag and it would have been mine :-).

For that toy to be warranted, I am once again convinced that there are folks with too much money.
