Hello all,
I have just looked at and taken some pictures of another gun from the collection I am selling for a friend. I believe the maker is Emil Eckholt or Eckhilt. 16ga. will send pics to Raimey to post if I'm not becomming too much of a pain.

Indeed that is a homegrown Emil Eckoldt double with an Austrian or Bavarian style stock made between 1912 & 1923 in Suhl. More than likely a Blitz or triggerplate action.











Wouldn't mind see a close-up of the side of the frame.

Me thinks the EES in a Heart was the mark of Emil Eckoldt, who hung out his gunmakers shingle in 1876. Later one sees the encircled ECKO more than likely being the mark of Hugo Eckoldt as below.


Yes, it does have Simson triangles and info sort of points to Edgar Strempel having a hoard of Simson components.




And as per this 1951 example, trading didn't cease in 1945.

"Emil Eckoldt, born 1854, died 1930, founded his business in 1876 at Judithstr.15, Suhl. By 1923 the shop was run by Hugo Eckoldt and Robert Schilling.
The British would call Eckoldt's action a "self-opening spring cocker". E. mounted hammers and mainspring on a see-saw like lever, hammers and lever rotating on the same pin. The front end of the lever protudes into the bottom of the action bar, where it is held down by the rear barrel lump in the closed gun. On opening the gun the front end of the lever is free to move up. An additional spring rotates lever, hammers and mainsprings to the rear, where the hammers are caught by to top-mounted, Kerner type sears. On closing the gun the barrel lump rotates the lever foreward/down, cocking the main springs."

Take a look at the GGCA site and look at the combo gun I have pics for there. Nice tight litle gun. Let me know what you think if you get to it.
