Hi All,

I have a Rem Model 31 that does not have enough drop for me. Do they make plastic shims that you can cut and shape from a board or shingle? I'd like to do something w/o bending the stock. Inquiring minds want to know;). Thanks.

Someone, I don't remember who makes some stickybacked foam ones that you cut with sissors and then press on and peel off. I'm sure either a trap or skeet shooter will know. Sorry.

I had the impression the original question refers to hard plastic (not springy foam) wedge shaped spacers that fit between the buttstock front and the rear of the action, used to alter the DAC and DAH of the stock fit. Beretta has them available for some models, but I do not know of "universal" models that are available. You could make your own by cutting plastic or wood sheets to an angle on a mitre box saw or something similar, but be careful of your fingers. Not sure how much you could actually raise the stock by doing this, and the "look" might not be real good, either, after all the fitting required. If I missed your point completely, chalk it up to being old.

Even if you can get the shims, things may get complicated because of the drilled hole for the thru bolt. I did the same mod on a M31, - carefully bent the threaded tube into which the thru bolt attaches, then shaved off a bit of the stock where it contacted the receiver

The guy's problem is "not enough drop". How in the heck are you going to add something to the comb to give it more drop?

If the gun has a tang like a model 12, you can bend that down a bit. Then reshape the front of the stock to fit the rear of the receiver at its new angle.

The recoil pad shims are the closest to what I originally asked. Ideally if I could get a sheet of that in a brown plastic I'd be set. I could alter the stock, but I'm looking for a quick fix so I can shoot with it before I make a permanent modification.
