I purchased a Scott SXS 10 gau. hammer gun some time ago and decided to clean it up, it had a hard life and I got bored. It has the long fore-end release lever. Any way here is the ?, the checkering is virtually gone and it looks like it had no borders where the wood meets the metal (at the barrels & lever) - is this the way these fore-ends (by Scott) where done / I just can't see the borders? --- John Can.

John:
Some had borders. Some didn't. And some borders were worn away over the years. They weren't very deep or distinct. I've worked on enough Scott stocks to know.
