Hi all, well I got the drilling that was post about earlier by me. The gun is in excellent shape and is indeed a Sempert-Krieghoff that was proofed in Sep 1944. Now all I need is the Model. Any Id would be great or any comments are welcome. Here's the pics.

Thanks again!!!

Greg

Greg,

Nice little drilling! It is clearly stamped with 7X57R and being a later gun I doubt the pouring of a chamber cast will be necessary. I like the detail in your game scenes. The roe buck standing at the edge of the wood with the fence in the background is a nice touch. The engraver did a nice job on the stag and surrounding wood as well. What ammunition are you planning on starting with? In another post you said that you had decided on what Graf & Sons has to offer, which is quite a variety. Are you going to start with the Sellier & Bellot 173 gr SPCE? Have fun and let us know how it shoots.

Greg,
The model of your drilling is quite easy to determine: Semper, as engraved on the reciever. With shorter barrels it was called "Waldschütz". Yours has a non-standard engraving, standard was "gefällige arabeskengravur" or translated, nice scroll.

Norregard

Thanks all, I do have to agree that the engraving is well done. At least no rabbits!!! Anyway, I have two loads I'm going to try, the 173gr S&B and also a 162gr by Hornaday. We'll see what happens, I'll keep you posted.

I kind of thought that the model maybe "Semper", but just wanted to confirm that.

Thanks again all for all the replies and nice words.

All the best!

Greg

I don't possess a Sempert & Krieghoff/Krieghoff Waffen catalogue from the 1940s but the modell in the 1920 would have been the Tugend. Anyone have an advert for the Semper or know how it differs from the Tugend?

Ah, here it is: http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=221392&page=all
