CZ makes a 12 gauge hammer gun. Any opinions on the quality of this gun? Its usefulness as a duck hunting gun? Thanks.

If it is a CZ, its a good gun. I havnt seen a hammer gun with long bbls. It should make a great waterfowler with steel. My "drag up the river gun" is a CZ...

Not a bad price!

It needs a straight grip.

Would be a good duck gun, the bores a chrome lined.

Yeah, they are supposed to be prety good. I have a CZ Ringneck that has only fired 10 shells since I bought it in 2008. I have been trying to find someone with a hammer classic that might want to trade. No luck yet.

I had to do some trigger work on one of these and found they don't have a bridle on the tumbler, and it was almost impossible to get a consistant trigger pull. :Mike

Thanks to all of you for the feedback. Last dollar, I've got a couple of problems with taking my Lefevers duck hunting, which I've been doing for years. I used to hunt from a layout blind with an early C grade 10 gauge with Bernard Damascus barrels. I loved it and I bagged a lot of ducks with "Bernie". A year or so ago, I got to the point that I couldn't afford the no-tox 10 gauge ammo. The last 2 years I've shot G grade, 12 gauge Lefevers, but it's still a ridiculous amount of money per shot! The second issue is that I worry about damaging these great old guns in a salt water environment, where I'm basically lying on my back in a kayak in a salt water bay in the winter, eyeing the horizon, waiting for the birds in Lord knows what weather conditions - sun, clouds, wind, sleet, snow, ice, rain. If the CZ hammer gun is a decent, reliable gun, maybe I can enjoy the thrill of hunting the way our great grandfathers did without breaking the bank on ammo or worrying about wrecking a neat old Lefever.

Richard, that is exactly the reason I bought my CZ. I loved to take my "E" grade Lefever out, but the price of cartridges was too much. For the guy that shoots 10 birds a year, its Ok. But I often shoot 10 birds a day. And, dragging my beautiful "E" up the Republican in blowing snow. seemed not right somehow...You are spot on!

The three CZ hammer guns I've handled were not as good a quality as the other CZ SxS's I've saw....point of impact was off on 2 of the guns.

Cheap ugly wood....and mushy feeling hammers.

I suggest you get one in hand before you buy it.
