I've just acquired an American Arms 10 ga sxs Turkey Special. Was wondering about shooting Hevi shot or the Federal Heavyweight loads? Anyone got any info?

Hi Ken:
I assume you're discussing the 26"barreled, parkerised brute with screw in chokes. If so, I have had one for about twenty years and It's a goose killing Jose. I shoot regular steel shot in it and have never had a problem. The barrels are heavy enough for 3 1/2" magnums- no need for light loads. The gun was built for heavy loads and has the weight to make the recoil managable. Good luck with it. I've sure enjoyed mine.

Cary,
Yes that's the one. You are right, it is a brute. Just out of curiosity, what choke are you shooting your steel shot through? Mine only came with 2 full chokes. So am looking for some others. Only ones I've found are Wilson Precision. Any others you know of?

Mine are in plastic cyllinders marked "American Arms". IIRC correctly, Mike Orlene sells chokes which will fit but I could be wrong. When I bought it in 1991, I screwed in the Improved cyllinder and modified chokes and haven't removed the since. It just works and works well. Enjoy.
