A few of the items I've accumulated for after the guns are cased... Next on my wish list is a tankard. A great source for these sorts of trinkets is http://www.niagarafinearts.com/

Looks German - both the Jagd-Tasche, and the flask setup. Lovely how they look like they can't stand on the antlers, while they actually can - as if one had to drown down everything there is inside before putting it down. Sort of like drinking wine out of horns smile Not much "use" in it, admittedly, but they can sure add up some flavor to a special hunt.

Ninepointer. The stag head cups are what are known here as Stirrup Cups and a small drink would be handed out to the riders prior to setting off on the hunt. In this case more than likely a Stag hunt which was common in Devon and Somerset until that beastly Tony Blair made it illegal. The stag hunts do still exsist but work on a different style. They used to ride to hounds and the hounds would pick out the stag that was to be culled and bring it to bay where it would be shot. If those stirrup cups are silver and depending on the maker you may find that they are quite valuable. If you search under Stag hunts you will come up with some intersting information. Lagopus.....

Humpty Dumpty, Thank you for introducing me to the term "Jagd-Tasche". It was a gift 15 years ago from a Polish hunter (their ways are much like the German's), but I knew it only as my hunting satchel which accompanies me on waterfowl and grouse hunts.

Lagopus, they are indeed stirrup cups! Another gift, this time from English relatives. Mine are used to toast success at our deer hunting camp, where the cups are held in high regard. When the number of toasters exceeds my number of cups (4), there is always jockeying for the honour of drinking from one!
