Interesting. I once was pulling up on a pheasant at a preserve while wearing gloves and had my right index finger on the rear trigger while the right thumb was pushing the safety forward. Unknowingly to me, the gloved finger had a bit more force on the rear trigger then I thought (new gloves). When the safety came off, the gun fired before it got to my shoulder. Fortunately the gun barrel was well up in the air and approaching the bird when it happened (I actually hit the bird, but low). Below the bird at the time was my then 2 year old Golden who had just flushed it. Something really bad could have happened. The gloves came off after that and were replaced with a much thinner pair. Lesson learned and fortunately it wasn't a painful one.

I am not referring to the dog. Isn't that called mounting your gun ?

Some folks carry their gun with barrels low over the arm and some carry at port arms with the barrels high. Both can be perfectly safe.
With the low barrel carry though, there'll always be some sweeping of the dogs unless the shooter is very careful. In the heat of a flush I think all of us might be embarrassed at a random photo of us in action.
I doubt that dog was ever in the least bit of danger...Geo

The dogs were never in any danger, and the right hand was in a safe grip away from the triggers. Someone asked for more photos of the Remington 1900: JERRY

That is why men should never give their dogs the same name as their wife. After the divorce the dogs life expectancy goes way down.

Very nice gun Jerry; much under appreciated classics. Wade will appreciate it though.
