Was out on Maryland's Eastern Shore with 23 year-old nephew Monday and Tuesday. Was his first hunt for Canada geese and for Hungarian partridge. He shot well, with three geese and a number of Huns brought to bag.
For geese, the short 10-gauge guns were an 1885 Lefever C grade and a Darne R-16. For Huns, we used a pair of Dickson round action 12 gauge guns ordered a year apart by the same man in 1899, but with new (Made by Another) steel barrels.
Believe we have a new bird hunter.
Best of the Season,
Tim
