Dale Edmonds asked me to post something on his behalf, he has been having a hard time replacing the O-rings on his Brownell's dent raisers and getting the dent raiser to function again. He has been following the instructions found here dent raiser instructions and wonders if there is something missing in the description of how to replace the rings or some helpful hint that someone might have. Thanks

PhysDoc, your website does not come up for me. If Dale can't figure it out, I would be very surprised. He's so talented in many areas. I have a three gauge set of these, but have never had to replace any of the O-rings etc. Try to find a better address for "dent raiser instructions".

If he has a B-Square one that Brownells sold before the present one, the only choice is to try an industrial supply co. Brownells is no help on them, the current ones parts won't work. I have a 12ga one and had to buy several packages before I found the right one. If it will help I will check the ones I have and give a ball park idea of the size.
I learn something every day, and a lot of times it's that what I learned the day before was wrong

Hi Daryl Here is the link again, to the Brownell's instructions dent raiser instructions Dale and I played around the other day and managed to get his 16 gauge dent raiser back up and running. The instructions would be better with some diagrams. I hear you on your appraisal of Dale, I may have a Ph.D in physics, but Dale is one smart guy, smarter than me, I think. It is honor to be his friend.

I have a friend that has a 28 gauge hammergun that received a dent during shipping to him. Anyone know of the existence of a 28 bore dent raiser?

PhysDoc, what did you guys come up with as a solution? I was thinking about what the problem might have been, but without having the dent raiser in hand, I'd have been just guessing. I've rebuilt some air and hydraulic cylinders with O ring piston seals that became obstinate due to a slightly out of spec O ring, or one made of a different material that was incompatible with the fluid, or an O ring that was rolling slightly out of its' groove and binding the piston in the bore. I had one O ring that was given a light smear of a good synthetic grease to ease assembly, and it swelled almost twice original size. Now I'll probably get a bunch of PM's from guys wanting to know what brand of grease that was.

Well, Dale and a friend of his tried to replace the O-rings once before without getting it to work. The other day we just followed the instructions. About the only thing that I noticed that could have been a problem is that when I pressed the anvil in, the hydraulic fluid shot out of the bleed screw hole leaving a little depression in the fluid level, I made sure to top that off before putting in the bleed screw. So far it seems to be working.
Dale only refinishes shotgun barrels, so his dent raisers get used a lot.
