I watched this without bidding. If it wasnt for Christmas I would have asked someone before it ended and chased it.

A friend here told me after it ended that a RIA 1903 would not be a A303. Was there a reason other that the poor listing by the seller that this went so low?

I guess, I can offer my thinking, I did bid on it but didn't win it. I was reluctant to bid higher because of the following.
I didn't discover the auction until maybe two days before it ended. I e-mailed the seller for a description of the bore and more detailed pictures. But all I received was a statement that it was a good shooter.

It looks like it had been reblued, and without detailed pictures, you don't know how much the edges might have been rounded off by a buffing wheel.

Also, with Rock Island 1903's you also have the low serial number question. I personally don't have a problem shooting low numbered 1903's but I know that it can be difficult to resell them.

The G&H scope mount would have ameliorated a lot of those potential faults.

Yeah, I agree, if you totalled up what you could get for all the parts, the sum would be greater that the final price for the rifle
and maybe I should have bid more. But I don't like to part out rifles. More likely, if I would have gotten it, I would have wanted to keep it and then would have had to find a slide for the receiver sight base and who knows what else. I think you are absolutely right when you say that the reason it went low was the poor listing by the seller.
