Adam, the Brescia and "Mi-val" you show look exactly like my '30s vintage Brescia, unfortunately including the rather plain wood. My guess is that these were originally just just good solid working field guns, back when hammers were "normal."

And I can cock both hammers of my 16 with my right hand, quite easily. (Never occurred to me to do it any other way....kinda slow to use both hands!)

Buy it. I recently bought a matched pair of Brescia 12's with straight grip and 30" M/F barrels. Shot one on doves a couple of weeks ago and like it. Mine are early 70's vintage, probably previously unfired, Stoeger imports. Nice guns, well made, rather plain wood but nicely fitted, high quality polish and bluing, decent engraving and great case color. I'd prefer a bit more figure in the wood, but no complaints other than that. Can't cock both hammers with one thumb.

They even make high grade H&H type sidelocks.

Please do tell, what is the matting on the barrels we see in this photo?

So did you buy it?, Eh? Did ya? Did ya?? smile
Like I said earlier, my first hammer was the coin finished one, the plain Italia, I guess.
I thought I'd like Hammer guns, but had never had one.
SO i bought the VB as I knew it to be a solid modern of the shelf ammo gun to test the waters.I paid 1000 mine, about 5 years ago.
27 3/4 bbls & weighed 7 lb 2oz.I could shoot it all day with my 1oz reloads.
I loved it, realized I loved Hammer guns , but I just had to get an old one,so sold it really fast for 1200 , to help buy my Greener.
Hope you get it n like it

I started my hammergun affair with a 16 ga Husqvarna model 20 and I've been slidding down the slippery slope ever since. Hope you enjoy it. Will be looking for pics.

I wish I knew more about the matting on the barrels but the photos is all of I have. It looks quite interesting. I wish I could see it in person.
