How many of you have tried shooting Brenneke or Foster style slugs through full choked drilings, SXSs or combis and what kind of accuracy were you able to get at 100 yards? The reason I ask is my insert goes in the right barrel, which is the modified, so if I want to shoot slug, rifle and the 22 WMR, I am stuck using the left barrel which is full choke.

Also, I got an email response to my enquiry from Brenneke International and they advise that they do not have a Canadaian distributor for their produucts. Does anyone know if someone in Canada is bringing these in from Brenneke USA? and where a guy could buy some. I find these far superior to the Foster type slugs in previous smooth bores I have used.
Thanks

Dean2, I´ve fired them through O/U and side by sides. They are made to pass through all variants of choke for safety sake but you get better accuracy the less choke there is. Unless it has special slug sights or proper irons I wouldn´t shoot it at anything with four legs at 100 yds ! My eyes can´t do that anymore, with no sighting system I doubt you would do better than 12" group, with sights a different game, best

As you notice, most inserts are indeed designed for the right barrel so that you can take advantage of the set trigger. As a result most builders regulated the left, and usually tightly choked tube, to still shoot the Brenneke design with some degree of accuracy. However, these were never designed to be hundred yard weapons - that is why the rifle is there. But many drillings will put that slug into pie plate accuracy at fifty yards which is/was minute of boar on a drive hunt where the slug would make sense.

I bought a bunch of them someplace on sale. I lived in upstate NY where slugs were mandated. After about 75-80 yds you would do better throwing rocks..Mind, this was from a clapped out Model 12 with no sights...

I can do about 75 yards with plain Jane Remington green flavor slugs in my Bernardelli SxS slug Lusso...I don't use the gun much any more because after I turned about 48 my eyes didn't play well with the open sights. Using a 1x scope on my deer blaster now.

Drillings can be ordered factory regulated to comply with the “Langenhagener Norm” which is a Brenneke sponsored standard for German hunting guns.

From a recent Krieghoff manual...(My 12x12x9.3x74R Plus Drilling)

“Langenhagener Norm”, we guarantee with the ammunition we used for sighting-in a maximum group between rifle barrel and shotgun barrel of 10cm (4”) with over-and-under rifle/shotgun combinations and drillings (one shotgun barrel sighted-in only) with 3 shots from each barrel at 50m (55 yds), and 15cm (about 6”) with drillings and both shotgun barrels sighted-in with rifled slugs.

I have never shot a slug out of my Drilling....But hey you never know it may group well (probably better than I can hold)...and honestly I would not hesitate to do so if the opportunity presented itself.
