I have a s x s SLE marked Armas Jacquemart which I take to be a storefront name. I was wondering if anyone knows who might have made the gun. Date code is 1976. Initials on the brl flats AJH. Thanks for any input.

Jacquemart is one of those Belgian makers/retailers that pop up every now and then. I've seen guns from them at all levels of the market - from very entry level stuff to top-grade guns. I think they made some of their guns themselves and had other stuff made in the trade - pretty common for Belgian & French makers.

Do you have any pics of your gun?

Here's a little about them along with some guns that I have been on the market lately:

Thanks for info. The gun looks like or may be the same 2 brl set from your 2nd listing but I did not get it from Steve Barnett. Very similiar engraving. Seems to me to be a very well made gun. The dimensions fit me and I traded an older 12 ga gun for it.

AJH is Joseph Jacquemart and children, retailers. The Jacquemart family was in the gun business for 100+ years. Some family members are still in Liege. They are supporters of the Curtis museum.

I visited the elderly gunsmith who was running Armes Jacquemart in Liege in 1990 or so. He was specializing in building what seemed to be well made custom express rifles on Browning B-125 and Mirokou over/under actions at very reasonable prices. Unfortunately, I never followed through.

Some years later, I saw that his remaining inverntory was being sold off via an ad one of the French Hunting Magazines.
