Fwiw i understand wanting to drive some where nearby and drop off your gun but you may be better off sending it to one of the better guys in another state even far off. for all I know there may be a good custom stocker in va but dont get up tight about using someone else who specialises in your maker. why get a job from a generalist when you can get some one who knows what your makers stock is supposed to look like ?

I have no experience with his services, but Gunter Pfrommer is in VA and has a good reputation as a gunsmith:

Thanks for the responses.
Dogfox ,I realize I may end up sending gun away. Figured i would try and find someone local before I did so.
shinbone thanks for the lead. Gunter is 1.5 hours from me.
Now I just need to figure out the right man with the right price. The many nice folks I have talked to have quoted prices fom too good to be true to holy sh_t.

Yah i remember one fellow who posted pix here of his restocked fox. gun looked like some one with no knowledge of what fox is supposed to look like did it. wrist was very much too long and stock looked like a boat oar. very few had the heart to say it was fkd up. or may be those who replied didnt know themselves. then i saw it for sale about 1 yr later. price too good to be true caveat emptor.
