No reason not to buy if you are looking for a gun to use and the price is right.
The wood shows it's age and a refinish or two; cracked horn on the left(?), the forend rechecker looks poor, missing wood around the left lockplate, missing oval, and generally sanded out.
Longer barrels are remain in fashion so, the 26" tubes may knock off 10% of whatever number you have in mind.
The handsome engraving and the figure in the buttstock can easily distract one from the defects in the rest of the gun. It is a gun that someone can easily overpay for and regret later. That kind of puts it out of the friend to friend transaction class for me, as someone is likely to develop hard feelings from a low offer, or down the line when it is resold.
I'd call it a $2500 gun at maximum.
