I am curious, did Ithaca make the NID available with a factory english stock? If so how common or uncommon would it be? Is there anything to look for such as a long trigger tang to confirm factory vs. conversion?

They do exist, but they are pretty scarce.

I have a factory numbered Grade 4 stock, straight grip. It has a gold factory plate that is engraved "Roy". I'm holding out for a Roy Rogers collector.

Yes, some were made and they have a long trigger guard tang. Not common though.

I have been told that Roy Rogers favorite shooting gun was a Parker that was restocked by the Lefevers in the style used by Rudy Etchen in his glory days as the American Trap shooting champion (top average one year 99.6, try to beat that on the competitive circuit). However, it could have been an Ithaca. The Lefevers had nothing against Parkers, and several of them worked for Hunter Arms making L.C. Smiths for a while. However, there was some disappointment (to make this Politically Correct) with Ithaca's use of the Lefever name to market their cheapest line of guns (The Nitro Specials and offsprings). They did not particularly like to dress an Ithaca up.

This is dated, as the last of the Lefever gunsmiths (Bob) passed away about 6 years ago.
