Probably a dumb question but I can't figure it out. Just bought a new Browning Citori 16 gauge - fresh out of the box. The gun will only fire one barrel at a time. After firing the bottom barrel - it won't shoot the top barrel unless I move the safety back to safe and then to fire. I can move the barrel selector so that the top barrel fires first and same thing - top barrel will shoot but nothing happens if I pull the trigger a 2nd time. If I move the safety back to "safe" and then to fire and pull the trigger again - the gun shoots the 2nd barrel. What's the problem?

Are you testing with snap caps or, actually firing live shells? If snap caps, there's no recoil to set the trigger to file the other barrel.. At least this is true if it has an inertia trigger.

If on live shells, trigger mechanism probably needs some adjusting. Even light loads should be enough to set an inertia trigger.

I've used both snap caps and shells - same thing.

Browning made it, let them fix it. If you need it tommorow try cleaning the inertial block and related parts. Could be grease or chips.

BEFORE you touch a turnscrew or start messing with the gun, do this:

1) Put in snap caps and close the gun
2) Pull the trigger to fire whatever barrel
3) bump the butt firmly against something like a carpeted floor. Firmly enough to simulate the recoil of a cartridge and reset the inertia trigger.
4) Try to "fire" the second barrel.

If you get a "snap" you're in business. If not, contact Browning.

I would trade it in for a nice double trigger side x side:)
