I have what I assume is a Stoeger Peerless Krag. I have not had it apart, so I don't know where any markings would be. Have you found markings on your Krag? My gun is painfully plain, no checkering but great lines and finish. Plain metal buttplate with peak, plain metal grip cap, nice high ramp front sight, Redfield peep rear. Black forend tip. Winchester style quick detachable wide base swivels as pictured in Stoeger Peerless accessories. Total package is priced at $24.00. With checkering, it could have been built by one of many name stockmakers. I've never shot it, only assume it is 30-40. My gun is identical to the Krag pictured on page 316 of the 1939 Stoeger catalog. I have thought of checkering this great rifle, but then it wouldn't be like the catalog pictures.
