Anybody know where I can get dissembly instructions on the Lefever Nitro Special? Already been to the Lefever forum with no luck.Seems nobody knows or just don't care to discuss the lowly Lefever Nitro Special.Just want to remove the stock and clean up the action etc.

Thats an easy one guy!!! First remove the trigger guard screw, turn trigger guard counter clockwise, it is just slotted into the floor plate, there is no screw. Remove the two floor plate crews and CAREFULLY remove the floorplate form the rest of the action, watch out for the spring it just rides on the floorplate and has to be reinserted before reassembly. There is NO screw on the top tang that needs to be loosen before disassembly they are all on the bottom of the action on the floorplate. Now remove the butt plate and loosen the drawbolt, I use a socket extension for this as the socket end and its head fits tightly over the draw bolt head, some use a long screwdriver, I believe. After removal of the draw bolt very carefully remove the stock.
Any more disassembly and you are dealing with some serious coiled mainspring pressure that is completely out of my league, cant help you there.

There was a thread a few months back about NS disassembly. However, if it's working okay and just needs cleaning what I do is, after stripping it down to the point that treblig1958 discusses above, I soak the action overnight in a solvent such as gasoline or Coleman lantern fuel. After the internal gunk is softened sufficiently I take a spray can of automotive brake cleaner (with the long red plastic nozzel) and blast out any remaining gunk. I let the whole works dry for several hours (or blast it dry with compressed air) and then, using an oil can with an extended tip, I lubricate all the moving parts inside.
I hope this free advice is worth every penny you paid for it.
Steve

Use Brake Cleaner outside and with a mask, nasty stuff.
