I am not very good at identifying the various models of ithica sxs shotguns. Came across a 20 gauge that has a serial number in the 182xxx range and they were saying it was an NID. I am not real sure if this was correct. It appeared to have a 5 or an S above the 20 on the water table. Any help would be appreciated.

Not an NID. You need to study the Ithaca models before spending money.

Thanks Walter did not seem right to me. Is there a good source for Ithica information on web or in bbok form?

Mark,

Went to the link and now I get the picture. Great deal of knowledge on these pages. See that Walter also has a book on the model 37. I do have a 16 gauge model 37 that is a wonderful pheasant gun and grew up with my best hunting partner who shot a 37 in 12 gauge. Always was jealous of him when duck hunting and geese were coming. He could easily remove the shells from his tube and sub heavier loads while I struggled with my 870.
