Had some time to kill this morning and stopped by the local pawnshop.
Discovered a New Era Gun Works Hammerless Double in 16 gauge (boxlock with angled back similar to Syracuse Arms).
I was impressed with the simple border patterns around frame and pins.
Woodcock or snipe was on bow of trigger guard and a few quail
on bottom of action.
With checkered side panels, it was really an attractive little gun.
Barrels (Twist or Laminated?) were far from perfect though and had a couple major pits in each tube.
Worst part was forend wood was badly cracked and scotch taped to barrels.
They didn't want much money for it. I was tempted to snap it up
(a pretty wall-hanger, at least) but didn't. Still thinking about it though.
Are there any inherent negatives to the Baker boxlock design?
Forend metal looked a little complicated, but because of the scotch tape issue,
I couldn't really investigate. I realize it's far from a diamond in the rough, but it might be an opal.
Anybody have one of these?
