Sure looks to me like I can see a pin covered over in the Sterlingworth cheek checkering. We have certainly seen in the Parker Bros. order books where lower grade guns were ordered with cheek checkering and higher grades that normally had it were ordered without. Same in the A.H. Fox Gun Co. graded gun production cards. The Sterlingworth was a "stock" gun made to "stock" specifications. Any change was extra cost, and quickly got one into the price of an A-Grade where grip choices, and stock dimensions was part of the deal.
