I'm looking at a V. Bernardelli 12GA SxS, 27" barrels (M/F), Boxlock, single non-selective trigger, I would rate the wood at 70% and the metal a little higher @ 75%...

The gun is an early '70's model, but I don't know what the model is to look up a value...

Does anybody know what model this might be or care to take a guess at value??

Thanks,

It looks like a S. Uberto 1 which was imported also by Stoeger as a Gamecock. However, all I am aware of without sideplates had double triggers.

I suspect this is a variant of the S. Uberto 1 that has pistol grip and single trigger. Probably worth $650-750 in 12 gauge depending on condition.

Any importer's markings? That might narrow down the model some; there were several who had versions of the San Uberto made specifically for the American market with single triggers, pistol grips, and small beavertail forends.

Or it might have been ordered with these special features for an American customer. Back in the 1970s, I ordered several Bernardellis with specific features that were not found on any stock model (to be clear, they were standard features on some models, just not the ones I ordered them on; they let you "mix and match" features on a gun you ordered specially). This could be done through any FFL dealer at that time and I'm sure that many "non-stock" guns were so imported.

You don't see many S. Uberto 1's with a single trigger. But Stoeger's Shooters Bible from 1961 says a ST could be ordered, at extra cost of course, on all models. If the date code is XX9, it's a 1973 gun.

Date code being 1973 makes sense...

This particular one is stamped Pedersen - North Haven, CT...

In late 1972 - early 1973, Pedersen Custom Guns imported a "handful" of Bernardelli O/U & SxS, as well as some from Beretta & Aramberri of Spain, to figure out which ones they would chose for their line of guns..

Pedersen wound up going with the Beretta BL-4 (model 1000) & GR-4 (Model 2000) for their "higher end" guns and with the Aramberri offerings for their "inexpensive" models (Models 1500 & 2500, respectively)... at the time, I guess they couldn't make enough profit going with the Bernardellis...
