At a quick glance I'd say Schuler sourced a parts kit with the tubes being from Sauer and then subed the work to Franz Adamy for the bulk of the work. It was finished to the customers requests in the August Schuler shop. I think this reinforces the probabilty of post WWI Dalys actually being made by Gebruder Adamy and possibly with Schuler being the middle-man, which I'm still a bit leery. It defines a sourcing line independent of Daly.

Thankyou.
However it's always been my understanding that Charles Daly was strictly a US firearms importer. This 1925 gun appears to be a relatively recent arrival from Germany. The washer under the machine screw used in the stock repair is a 1942 steel 10-pfennig piece.
Further, I acquired the Schueler Catalog reprint offered by the German Collector's Assn and it arrived today. The catalog is undated, but appears to be from between the wars. Nothing close to this shotgun is in the catalog.

Why do you think the gun was proofed in Zella? (the proofhouse was in Mehlis, but by 6/25 = June 1925 both towns were amalgamated into Zella-Mehlis anyhow. But, your gun was proofed in Suhl, as the word "NITRO" is in block letters. The Z-M proofhouse used script.

True Daly was an importer but pre-WWI he had completed firearms sourcing lines to H.A. Lindner, who in turn had his own sourcing lines for components and finished products. When and if things get sorted out, we are going to see that there were small pools of very talented craftsmen who forewent the path of the firearms merchant and became the best of the best in their craft. Tasks by these mechanics were highly sought after.

Googling photos of Gebrueder Adamy guns show a close match in styling.

But those look to be 2 different actions. The frame is shorter and the lugs seem to be larger on the top pic and I'd guess it has both overhanging and intercepting scears or it may be a DR.
Can you give a measurement of the tube length? Since it doesn't have the menancing muzzle, I wonder about the overall length.
Kind Regards,

How about an October 1928 proofed double by ASS(August Schüler Suhl) utilizing Heinrich Barella's 1922 patent - Sicherungsvorrichtung fuer hahnlose Gewehre or safety device for hammerless sporting weapons? http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=284097748 Kind Regards, Raimey rse
