I picked up a 626 Onyx 20ga last fall NIB, it's a nice little shooter. The safety needs a good amount of pressure to throw forward, when you go to pull it back it takes just a hair to go back, it snaps right back. I would like to get that tweaked a little to smooth it out and have the trigger turned mechanical. I removed the stock to see if it was a grease issue but all looks good. I was wondering who could do this small task.

Since we don't know where you are, the conventional (and correct) wisdom would be to send it to Rich Cole in Maine. He is the Beretta guy in the USA. Joel Etchen's shop and Midwest Gun Works would also be good choices.

Unfortunately most of the cost is going to be shipping but I would send it to Coles. If it's a new gun you might send it back to Beretta in MD but Coles is the top Beretta guy in the US.

That problem should be a very easy fix. Like mentioned above, if we knew where you were we might be able to point you at a local smith. Here in the greater LA area, I can think of a few smiths that are fully capable of that fix.

I am located in NJ, the gun was made back in the early 80's.

Chuck and Rob, I think you guys missed boxbirder's desire to convert the gun to a mechanical trigger. The safety part is indeed simple; conversion from inertia to mechanical, a good bit more of a job.

Coles did mine a few years back, I had my 20ga Onyx fitted with double triggers. I imagine he could do a single mechanical. Won't know unless you call.

Larry, Yeah, I missed that. I'm sure Cole's could do it. I also think it's worth a call to Clay Target Sports, over in Princeton NJ, to see if Chris Maest would do it.

I called Chris @ Clay Sports this morning he doesn't work on Beretta. As for Cole's they replied via email the the trigger would be unreliable.

Why did you want the trigger converted? Are you shooting small gauge inserts? Briley does this to most guns so their .410 tubes will work. Might be worth a call if you still want to pursue it.
