I know that here in the states, A&F, VL&D, maybe G&H all imported Mannlicher Schoenauer rifles. I've heard that in England some of the bigger names also did; Gibbs, Frasier, Woodward,... With regard to the English names, some imported barreled actions and some imported complete rifles and sold them under their name. Can someone point me toward a source of info regarding which English companies performed work on barreled actions and which ones merely stamped their name on a complete rifle? Trying to increase my background knowledge of how these great sporters were sold around the world.
Thanks

I have seen Mannlichers maked with the names of Jeffery and Gibbs. Both take-downs with "period" cases for travel. I have heard of a W.C. Scott in 6.5 floating around in the Michigan area, but never been able to run it down.

I'm eager to read the replies to this post as I just acquired an early 1903 model M-S.

Stoeger and A&F were big importers post-WWII. In regard to the English "makers", in addition to Frasier, I have admired a beautiful William Evans M-S gun, but at the time did not look to see what post-Steyr modifications might have been done.

The Jeffery I saw appeared to have a sight regulation, upgraded finsh on the wood and the case built for a traveling sportsman.
As I recall the Gibbs was a restock only, had a really long LOP,but no metal work?

Love the 1903's as well.
This one was imported to the states via the well known "duffle bag" firm,1945-46.
The action was sent to/has on the barrel "Val Haffener Kessel" from the Ges Steyr factory,Val Haffener finished it with the engraving and fancy adjustable cheek piece.
