The gun was made by obscure Italian maker Antonio Zoli model 'Vulcano'. It is rather nice piece with POW grip, SFE, reinforced breech, beaded fences, concave game rib, DTs (front articulated and both checkered). At less then $800 it was too good deal to pass up. It had thin film of yellow gunk on outside metal surfaces and has been in storage since the 1960s. Professional cleaning and lubrication seems logical thing to do. Just like old mechanical watches stop working if not used for long time due to oil hardening in moving parts of the movement. PS. Thanks for contact info to Gunter Pfrommer.

Antonio Zoli is far from being obscure. For your reference here is a Vulcano for sale in Italy. JC

Just for your reference, I thought it would be too simple to give you his web page Zoli JC P.S.: Do you have international internet access where you reside? jc P.P.S: I don't think you deserve to have the gun.jc

That's a very good price for a Zoli Volcano, even if it does need a bit of attention to get it back to tip-top condition. I've seen Zoli boxlocks from that era, go for that.

It's nice knockabout side-lock in unused condition with plain French gray receiver and minimal ornamentation not unlike Bernadrelli 'Liscio' or Arrieta 601. I call it 'Birth Gun' since it's "in white" version of "Black Widow" or "Funeral Guns" one sometimes comes across. It spent years gathering dust in rack at R&D department of Marlin Firearms Company before it ended up with me.

Did you trade it in a Greentop in Glen Allen? There's an identical gun on the rack there now.
