just bought this comp o/u and it looks like it came out of a time machine, case papers etc mfg 1993.
it shoots just fine and goes bang everytime.

i noticed that the bottom firing pin rebounds back into the reciever and the top pin stays protruded after they are released.is this in order to make clearance for the swinging barrels upon opening??
maybe need a new hammer spring on the bottom bbl?

also i noticed one cocking rod seems to have a light return spring and the other one is just sliding freely in there.they dont fall out,and the hammers are getting cocked.i wonder if this is something that is done to 682 comp guns for easier opening at the games?

maybe I just answered my own question, but thanks to all reply`s

You may have a broken hammer spring strut, or a broken nut on the hammer spring strut. The hammer spring strut is threaded on the back end. and has a nut on it that compresses the hammer spring. It is adjusted until the strut can be rotated with the fingers with the hammer down. This should leave the hammer rebounded and the firing pin retracted. Once the correct adjustment is achieved, the nut is crimped on the strut. The original nuts were crimped at the factory with something like a set of side cutters that left indents on two side of the nut. The nut often breaks at this indent, and will not hold the adjustment. When replacing the nut it should be crimped with something like vice grip pliers that flatten it on two sides and it won't break again.

thanks you nailed it,I took off the stock to have a gander, and can see the nut on the hammer spring shaft wasnt cranked in enuf before crimping, allowing the hammer face to bottom out the firing pin.
