I am considering buying a Arrieta 12 ga sidelock. I am have difficultly locating info/model,and the value of the gun. Any info would help. It is as follows: H&H 7 pin hand detachable sidelock, Purdy double underbites w/ a 3rd hidden fastener, articulated front trigger, Anson push button forearm hardware, Full & Ex Full chokes, sling swivels, and (the kicker) it has been refinished at a OK level. The serial # is 3178 I have tried contacting Arrieta, they didn't have any info available.

Call John Boyd at Quality Arms in Houston. He may be along here shortly, or may be in Vegas for the Beinfeld and SHOT shows.

Serial suggest 1982. There will be a specific date code on the barrel flats. Sling swivels suggest a gun made for the European market. Try comparing the gun to the various models' features shown on their website. You can get close.
You really don't give enough info - can you post pictures?
What do you mean "refinished"? Has the wood been restored? If so, how well and hopefully the metal isn't proud.
Might be a live pigeon gun. What's it weigh?

I've always thought you couldn't say "Arrieta" without also saying "Jack Jansma" ini the same breath. I mean, he's the guy most responsible, exclusively, of introducing these guns to to the USA.
Check DGJ or any good Shooting mag for "Wingshooting Adventures" for a lead.

The Guns overall wieght is 7.0 lbs. On the watertable it has the standard proof marks with an addition of a "AC" with a circle around them, as well as "210" on the frame (in the center) between the Purdy bites. On the Chomper lump area the same "AC" shows up along with the standard proof marks again. On the underside of the right barrel, near the latch the number "1410" shows up. I am not sure if any of these things are significant to putting a date or model to it. The engraving is near (if not) 100%, but is rather "course" compared to typical scroll. I think the Hidden 3rd fastener may be either an upgrade to the gun, or make the gun a higher model. Is that fair? The wood is at or slightly above the metal, and it has been totally redone. Blued, and freshened stock ( I can feel that the checking is slightly lower, telling me that it likely has been recut).
Thanks Matt

There will be an upper case letter or an upper case letter, asterisk, number combo (e.g. G*1) on the barrel flats. What is it? That's the year code.
It will also have the weights of the barrels and the proof pressure.
If you're reporting what it has on the barrel flats it helps to report all of the data, not just some.
