Agree--except maybe as collector pieces, assuming they're really all that rare.

The really rare find, I think, would be a game scene engraved 20ga Sidelock. There are some game scene 12's out there, but supposedly no 20's.

There were a total of 714 12 ga. and 450 20 ga. Two engraving patterns were offered, one with rose and scroll and the other a game scene. Funny thing is Browning denies that it ever offered the B-SS with anything but the rose and scroll.
The wood, checkering was better on the game scene guns and drop points were only on the game scene guns.

As Larry said the 20 ga. game scene guns must exist, but none has sufaced yet, I believe.

As for price now, who knows, as the list when new ws $1500.00. I would say the game scene 12 would be worth close to that. Look at the workmanship.

Sort of on par with this topic...

Scheels in Coralville IA has a Japan/Korea 20ga BSS Boxlock grade 1 SST (trigger has the selector behind it) in wonderful condition with 28" F/M bbls. The price is set at what seems to be a reasonable 1300. I have no dog in this fight however if someone is wanting one this seems fair to me at a place where prices are generally quite high. Someone can PM me for contact info if they wish.

Did Browning ever make a 12 ga. BSS with choke tubes?

The PG BSS guns don't bring close to what a Sporter will bring. I think the above price is fair for a PG BSS 20ga, certainly compared to what else is on the market today. On the other hand, the market has definitely gone a bit soft of late for guns in that price range. If I were looking for a 20ga sxs for targets, I'd give strong consideration to that gun--with a little choke surgery or screw-ins. Field gun, same price range, I'd go with an Ithaca SKB simply because they're a good bit lighter and of equal quality IMO.
