Adam, Those are some really well done photos. Thanks for sharing them with us. It'll be sure to raise some eyebrows when those yankees see ya'll in shirtsleeves the last week of December! It went from 16 degrees here on Monday to 72 degrees on Thursday! You really should consider a career in photography. You seem to have an "eye" for composition. Stan
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Adam: Which quail plantation did you hunt? 2 of my friends and myself are looking for a place in AL vs. GA as access for us would be easier. Thanks.

The best part of the hunt, to me, is that you were hunting with your dad/brothers. Treasure these times Adam.
Now....what guns were used?

Tell about the guns used, especially about the two sxs in the photo with the 4 quail and the orange whistle and red whistle lanyard. All photos were excellent. Yes, hold fond to your heart the hunt with your father and two brothers. Two of my 4 brothers passed at an early age, one at 38 and the other at 51. My father passed at 66. None of them hunted, but I miss them just the same. We in NC just don't have wild quail to hunt like I did back in the 50's and 60's. My father owned 3 adjoining farms, almost 500 acres, and many coveys of quail were available, but those days are long gone.

I would really appreciate the name of hunt club and a contact number or web site.
Thanks very much.

Thanks everybody!
We hunted at Partridge Pea Plantation in Dawson (near Albany GA). The place is not a high volume operation by any means. They offer a very limited number of hunt each season. They offer a comfortable lodge but they focus on the quality of the hunt. On any given day, you will see day-released birds, early-released birds, and usually a wild covey or two. Don't expect to kill a lot of birds. On the wild coveys, we didn't hunt singles. On the early-released coveys, we would only take 2-3 birds out of them. Many preserves will shoot down the coveys but that doesn't happen here. That afternoon, I think we killed 20 or so birds between the 4 of us. But this is the kind of hunt I like. Quality over quantity.
If you are looking for a hunt in Alabama, then go to Cameron's Preserve. Their birds fly better than any other place I know of. You see a lot of big coveys at Camerons (30-50 bird coveys not uncommon), as they maintain established coveys on the property.
As for the guns. One was a Beretta 687 SPII in 20ga. The SXSs were both Miroku "My Luck" guns. The gun with the scalloped action is Model KE in 20ga with 28" bbls, improved cylinder/full chokes, and ejectors. It weighs 6 1/4 lbs. The other boxlock is a Model L-II in 12ga (though I used 20 gauge reducers) with 28" bbl, mod/full chokes. Both are fantastic quality guns.
As for the photos, everybody took them. Only 2 guns shoot the coveys so the camera switched hands throughout the day.
Adam
