It's my first post here.:)
I'm into hammergun and I've been looking for a Bernardelli brescia or italia model in 16 gauge for 3 years now. I get on gunbroker, auction arms, guns america and guns internationl all the time and look for one. I know the gun books all show 16s, but did they actually make any?
I've got the 12 italia and 20 brescia. Both of these guns are great, but I need a 16 to complete my wants. I wish they made a 410 also, but I'm sure I'll have to find an older one made by someone else.

Welcome to the board. You'll find some serious gunnuts here . Can't help you with your Bernardelli question, but do know that hammerguns can become a slippery slope . I've aquired 4 Husqvarna and 2 Belgium built hammerguns all 16 gauges. My hammerless guns are sitting in the back of the safe getting lonely. Rick www.alleghenymountainwanderings.blogspot.com

I can't recall having seen any, but I'm sure they did make 16ga hammerguns--most of which likely stayed in Europe. For that matter, you won't see all that many hammerless Bernie 16's, compared to 12's and 20's. You might try contacting John Boyd at Quality Arms. He was a Bernie importer for quite a few years. You'll find him on the sponsors list back on this website's home page.

Definitely check with Quality Arms. They were THE Bernardelli distributors in the USA. I bought a 12 bore Roma 6 for about $1,800 back in the 90's and actually returned it because I was way too picky. Sure wish I'd held onto it. Well, that's true for a LOT of guns, but they're all water over the dam now.
Anyway, call John at Quality Arms (TX). I wouldn't be surprised if he had one all ready for you!
Good Luck - Marc

Welcome,Dolly! I imported a used Bernardelli hammer 16 (made in 1931) from Italy back in the late 1970s. One of my favorites; keep looking. As a plus, mine was choked cyl in the right barrel (I suspect for slugs, ball) and imp mod in the left. Mine isn't marked Italia, but is about the same as the lowest grade of Italia; very plain with only border scroll. Wood is better than many field grade Bernardellis, tho. Has swivels; I got a Euro sling from Kebco for it 'way back. Came from a small gunsmith/shop in Piemonte. You might contact Quality Arms and have them order one to your specs from Bernardelli, if they still do that. I did that several times in the 1970s, including a Roma 3 16 hammerless.

I called John at Quality Arms and he said they did make 16 gauge hammerguns, but good luck finding one.
I guess I'll have to keep looking.
Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure what you'll get out of Bernardelli these days. They went out of business back in the late 90's. Facilities were eventually purchased by a Turkish group which said they were going to make guns (and I've even seen a catalog), but have yet to hear of any real guns coming off the line.
