The article I wrote for the Double Gun Journal, "Le Bon Vieux Darne", summer of 1996, shows a photo of a semi-pistol grip Charlin I owned at the time. It had been, quite skillfully, recheckered by Carol, at Ahlman's Custom Gun, and her work was far superior to what was original.
Keep in mind, checkering was a production operation on these guns, especially the lower grades, and there might be differences between guns built on the same day.
Europeans don't seem to go GA-GA at checkering the way Americans do, and pretty high grade continental guns often have very simple patterns applied.
