Hello Geno, Thank you. And having a son working in the government I can humbly claim a minuscule part in the successful operation. JC

Echo Geno's sentiments, JC.
Nicely done with the 33 out.

Having covered two of Nova Scotia's coal mining disasters, in 1956 and 1958, your rescue reminded me of the courage and fortitude of all those who work underground; the brotherhood was there for all the world to see.
Chile has done itself proud: its engineering prowess was matched by extraordinary organizational, public relations and communications skills which I expect will be studied in corporate and public circles for years to come.

The 33 miners episode has given a sobering lesson to ourselves. That difficult situations can be solved with resolution and the proper skills when led by the right government. Even in a small mostly underdeveloped and unassuming country living isolated on the fringe of a continent.
JC must be very proud of his son, placed in a key position with the Ministry of Interior (Home Office).
Regards,

That was pure magic... I remember thinking when I first heard of their entrapment, & the "Christmas-ish" recovery estimate , that they were beyond Help or Hope. I don't think I could have handled that amount of time, buried under christ knows how many tons/miles of rock very well. I'd a gone mental, honest! That reall y made me HAPPY!! Franc

Bravo Chile! Even though I am not a praying man, I sure had some crossed fingers and good wishes. Chops

Bravo Chile indeed, they showed what is thought to be hopeless can be seen through to a miraculous end. Congratulations to JC, his son and all their fellow Chileans.
Remarkable to watch, that live feed of the capsule dropping down from the rock ceiling into the underground cavern was straight from a sci-fi movie.

No doubts there will be movie about it soon. The theme is intriguing I've been thinking about it to... enought in it to fill a 500-series Brazilial telenovella, with four story arches: one about the team out down there, then switching to how the resque goes on, then to the feelings of the relatives and friends, and flashbacks into the past of the miners... Anyway it's a much better theme than 90% of what;s being filmed today.
