Handled one of these in a shop today. It has the little pheasant trademark on the top of each barrel at the breech, bushed firing pins and a Greener crossbolt. Lockup was very smooth and tight. Right barrel was marked Catron of Carmel. A Google search suggests this outfit was here in 1960, gone in 1961, and that the El Faisan guns -- at least in .410 -- are not at all well thought of, and product of Sarasqueta. Any other info out there? Guy wanted $300 for it ...

Bill, run away, in my opinion I would rather have a good old Stevens.

What model hammer Huskies? I've got two in 16 ga., the Lefeachaux (sp) ones. They're good enough guns, cheap, and weigh less than you'd think with all that steel in the forend.

Gene: I have had two of those guns in 12-gauge and liked them a lot. I am on the scout for the Model 51, with the conventional forend.

Bill - right now we are awash with guns imported from Sweden, Huskies, Sauers, etc.

If you are looking for a budget Vintage Type Shotgun you ought to check out the German and Swedish guns, many of them have been used hard, but some are in decent condition and were very well made guns. I found an East German Scallop actioned Sauer 12 Ga. Ejector gun a while back in your budget range. It is a great gun.

Here is an example from Simpson LTD

In my experience they honestly describe their guns, be prepared to look thru quite a few Cow Patties to see the decent ones however smile

Before I dumped money on a Husky I'd buy the new CZ hammer gun.
